Hybrid TV moves in 3 directions with 3D on TiVo in Australia

3D now...3D later...3D on-demand

Sydney, Australia, 26 May, 2010 - Hybrid Television Services (ANZ) Pty Limited, the creator of CASPA™ On-Demand and the exclusive licensee of TiVo® products in Australia and New Zealand today announced that TiVo customers will be at the forefront of the 3D television revolution. Effective now, TiVo is the first PVR with the ability to time shift any free-to-air 3D broadcasts and TiVo customers will get more from their 3D experience with TiVo "trick play" functionality. The CASPA on-demand service available on the TiVo device will also deliver broadband 3D content direct to the TV in coming weeks.

Only weeks after the first Samsung 3D televisions hit Australian shores, TiVo owners with 3D televisions will be the envy of all their friends with front row seats to the State of Origin tonight plus the ability to run to the kitchen while they pause the 3D broadcast with their TiVo, so they never miss a moment of the action. Better yet, if their friends are not around during a live broadcast (or in bed asleep) - they can rub it in by playing back time shifted World Cup Soccer games.

Sport will never be the same once you have experienced it in 3D at home on the TV. With a TiVo, the 3D experience is further heightened as customers can watch in slow motion and jump back 30 seconds at a touch of a button to see the play in 3D over and over again.

For those pundits who cannot afford a 3D TV - or worse yet, cannot get their hands on one...the TiVo can record 3D broadcasts and wait patiently for the 3D television to be purchased, installed and ready to enjoy the 3D content previously recorded on the TiVo.

That is the story behind 3D now (live) and later (time shifted) with a TiVo device, but the 3D proposition on TiVo goes a step further bringing TiVo customers the 3D content via the CASPA On-Demand service. Expected from June, TiVo customers will be able to download 3D content and watch it with their 3D television straight from their TiVo. Initially content will include movie trailers and short animations, but it will grow to include movies and documentaries shot in 3D.

"Many consumers think 3D is just another fancy feature to get people to buy a new television. Not true. Anyone who has sat in Harvey Norman and experienced a 3D movie on a 3D TV will tell you it was the single most exhilarating entertainment experience of their life. Now match that experience to viewing 3D sport and you have simply died and gone to heaven.

"To own a TiVo and know that your TiVo can record the 3D broadcast of the World Cup Soccer while you are sleeping, then wake up to time shifted viewing on a 3D TV is worth getting out of bed for. The ability to feel as though you can reach out and kiss a player that scores a goal, snatch the red card out of the hands of the referee, or experience the players heading right for you in a slide tackle...you can almost taste the grass and dirt in your mouth." said Robbee Minicola, CEO Hybrid TV.

In anticipation of the rush to get a digital video recorder (DVR) to record the middle-of-the-night broadcasts of the World Cup, Hybrid TV has launched a limited TiVo offer. Customers who purchase a TiVo media device from a TiVo retailer between 28 May and 20 June, activate it and establish their CASPA wallet and redeem online before 31 July will score a bonus 1TB TiVo Expander Drive, by Western Digital, valued at $249. Offer is available only to TiVo media devices purchased in Harvey Norman, Domayne, JB Hi-Fi, Dick Smith and Myer stores.
