FAQ
Installation
What do I need to get everything working?
- TV (Standard or high definition)
- Broadband connection with a home network (and make sure you have your network password ready)
- TV antenna connection (rooftop aerial)
- Cables
Do I need to pay someone to install my TiVo media device? I am not very good at connecting things!
The TiVo media device is designed for the everyday person to install - you shouldn't need to get an installer to connect it. The instructions in the box describe how to do it in simple steps:
- connect the aerial,
- plug in the wireless adaptor (if you are wireless) or Ethernet cable (if you are wired),
- connect the TiVo to the TV,
- have your network password ready,
- power up and let TiVo tell you what to do next on screen.
I am terrible at recording programs - I never get the times right and my clock on my video recorder is always wrong! Argh!
We have the answer. Watch live TV, hit the button on your remote that says GUIDE, pick what you want to record from the onscreen guide (while your show is on the same screen in the background) and press RECORD. Presto, you have recorded a program. Is it a favourite series? Then choose Season Pass after you hit the record button and your TiVo will automatically record every episode in the series - even if the broadcaster changes the date and time!
What if I move house?
Simple: take it with you and re-connect it. No waiting for technicians to arrive to remove a device from one house and reconnect it at another - with a TiVo media device all you need to pack and unpack then plug it in, connect the aerial, pop in your network password (if it has changed) and connect it to a TV (and of course plug it in!). If you move interstate - make sure you go online to your My TiVo account and change your address so we send you the right EPG data for your location.
